TONY PULIS says the huge investment in players at Crystal Palace means their climb up the table is not a shock.

And the West Brom boss - going back to Selhurst Park tomorrow for the first time since quitting just days before the start of the Premier League season - reckons they underperformed under Neil Warnock.

Pulis won Manager of the Year for the way he hauled the Eagles out of the deathgrip of relegation and to an 11th-place finish.

But Alan Pardew, who replaced Warnock in January, has done a similar job in revitalising the ailing South Londoners, who have a top-10 finish in their sights.

Pulis said: "It was a massive surprise to me that they struggled in the first half of the season. They have invested just under £30million on a team that finished 11th.

"If you look at how many players have come in since I left, it is eight or 10. It's no surprise to me that a good manager like Alan has gone in there and been successful.
